6 months ago I came to Gothenburg with my eyes shut, I had never been to Sweden and truthfully I was not ready and moving to a place you have never been is a daunting experience that would rattle the nerves of the most solid person. I came here for my fiancée (Göteborg been her hometown) and my son who was born on the 28/02, I had read only good things but not enough to make me feel any more optimistic about the situation.
All my life I have travelled, my father been a man who can not settle in one place I had to endure moving from house to house and country to country then eventually I myself moved to Thailand for a period of time after I finished high school, there is no questioning why I’ve been unable to settle in one place, but I promised myself that before I move out of England again I will finish my college education and make sure I have work in the country I’m planing to migrate, but as we all know life does not work as we want and sometimes you need to change your plans unexpectedly and make sacrifices, that’s life!
Now I’m not saying I have regretted my time here, it is a life experience and been given a son the most precious gift a man can receive I will happily look back with a smile, but of course it hasn’t been easy as with any move, it is hard starting a family and been submerged in a new language can have a major impact on ones mental health. Im gradually adapting to my life in Göteborg and slowly starting to appreciate what a beautiful city this is.
So my struggle in Sweden is far from over but at least I’m now starting to admire it for the beauty it holds.
After 6 months of living in Sweden the food is probably the only thing that still surprises me, now I must say I’m a big fan of Swedish meatballs, cream sauce and mash potato, that is just a treat! But other things I can’t help but think WTF! And its not like the stuff that looks weird tastes any better cause it doesn’t.
Well this was not the case last night, I was served up a lovely dish of hash browns, crunchy delicious bacon and sweet blood pudding, now in England this is a typical breakfast and add beans, sausages and a fried egg and you got your self a full English! It does feel strange to eat the usual breakfast ingredients in the evening and since it’s the norm here it just made it all that more strange but I’ll take that over Pyttipanna any day thanks.
So I’ve been thinking about getting Healthier lately but not interested in paying shit load of money I ain’t got on gym memberships so have decided I’m going to take the bicycle route to a healthier life but the only problem is I don’t have the space to store a full sized bike in my life, yes sure I could kick the girlfriends mother out into a community care home but I’m too kind to put the elderly in homes, I find it rewarding to care for them hands on even though there grumpy old rags.
I decided to look into the foldable bike range’ the Dahon speed P8 to be precise, there easy to store in the home without the worry of theft and are easily carried onto public transport while taking up less room then a full sized bike. Gothenburg is very encouraging to people to get on there bikes with there endless bike paths and appealing routes it’s certainly encouraged me to think about it.
But there not so cheap so can only hope Santa drops me one this year!
So it’s that time of the year again when the population are annoyingly sick spreading there nasal interiors with the world, oh what a special time that is! I managed to survive a good 3 years without contracting the common cold leading me to be extremely overly confident that I was going to go another virus free year and avoid the general population of zombies roaming around the town centres rudely coughing into people’s personal zones.
My recent common cold which I can happily announce is over was a subtle one thank the lord but still a thorn in my rear end, actually the biggest issue with it was not such the cold but how I came about catching it, this one was personal about as personal as your neighbour taking a shit on your porch, you want to know the culprit? It was the girlfriends mother, now I wouldn’t be so bitter if this person was able to cover there mouth and use acceptable hygiene techniques but instead she decided to shower us with her germs with no respect for the people around, I thought this was only a problem with children and those with no arms! I guess I have to forgive seen as it is against the law to lock in-laws in cupboards or sentence to hanging :-/
But obviously like any other virus it caught up with my fiancé and 6 month old son, but don’t worry’ there recovering nicely apart from my girlfriends annoying cough which if carries on any longer I will be locking myself in a cupboard. I’m not the greatest person when it comes to sick people they can be quite irritating with there constant sniffling and slobbering but tomorrows another day so there’s still hope in keeping my sanity.
