It’s been a long day, your tired, you brush your teeth, strip of those clothes and hit the sack.
What you don’t expect is to awaken paralysed. This is a phenomena called sleep paralysis, something I have always known about but never expected to experience it.
It can happen upon falling asleep or waking up and it has been described as one of the most scariest experiences one can have.
The paralysis is a natural phase of sleep, REM sleep to be exact, the brain deactivates all the body’s motors to stop you acting out dreams.
As you enter REM the body is paralysed and then you wake, your fully conscious and aware of all your surroundings but are unable to move, unable to talk and in my case unable to open my eyes.
I experienced this 2 days in a row in multiples, it first started yesterday during a fiesta (all episodes have been during day naps) I was awake and fully aware and my whole body was been pressed down and I was unable to move.
I tried to talk but nothing came out, I tried to move my fingers and open my eyes but all I could feel was some slight twitching in my fingers and in my eye lids, suddenly my body came back, but I was so tired I nodded off.
Unfortunately after briefly going unconscious I awake in the same state of paralysis and unable to move a muscle, this happened another 4 times until I got out of bed.
Today same thing happened, i fell asleep only to awake paralysed, from what I’ve heard I’m only experiencing mild sleep paralysis, other people have felt a evil presence followed with hallucinations, I’m crossing my fingers this is the end of these brief but disturbing episodes of sleep paralysis.
